As part of our drive to support the children’s attention and listening in lessons, all staff in school have been trained to use a new routine with children called ‘Signal, Pause, Insist.’ In this routine, the adult in class raises their hand to gain the attention of the children. The children raise their hands in return to show that they are listening and the adult then continues with their instruction and teaching. The children have rehearsed this method in their classes and have responded very positively to this approach.
